Review : Skinfood Nail Vita BR608 Skin Nail

Hi guys! Today I have a nail polish review and swatch. I was searching for a nude nail polish to add into my nail polish collection, and I stumbled upon this one.
This is the visual look of the nail polish
The application was simply ordinary. The brush was nice and normal, I mean, there are some kind of brushes that are too wide that you have to be more precise so that the nail polish won't smear into your cuticles.
This is the swatch of the nail polish. The left one is with two coats, and the right one is with one coat. Both without top coat

On the first coat, it was pretty sheer and streaky. However, as it dried it became smooth and glossy, but it was still too sheer. I have few other skinfood nail polishes and they all seem to be a two-coater nail polish.
On the second coat, the colour started to show up a little bit better, as you can see you can still see a little bit of my white nails on the tip.
I don't like to put too many coats on nail polish because they will be very thick and they can easily leave dents on your nails, which can be unsatisfyingly annoying. So, I just stopped at two coats. Besides, it was quite opaque looking at my nails in a distance.

I kind of see why they named it 'Skin Nail' because the colour really matches my skin stone very well. It's like my skin tone shade in a nail polish bottle.

So, here are the pros and cons of this nail polish.

      Pros
  • It was quite cheap. I got it for about IDR 25.000 per bottle.
  • It can get opaque in two coats
  • Dries glossy and shiny
  • Dries quite fast
  • You don't really need a top coat to make it shiny
  • It was the perfect shade that I was looking for
     Cons
  • It left me with dents because I was trying to open the door. It has been about 10 minutes since I applied the polish. Here is the picture.
  • Two coats may not be enough for people who want full pigmentation of the nail polish
Rate : 4 / 5
minus 1 point because of that slight imperfection :(

Repurchase? Definitely. I would love to try out other colours as well!
Other than that, I think this nail polish is really worth it to try. Plus, it was cheap as well.
So, I hope this review helps! Thank you for reading and see you on my future reviews!
when my nails were perfect-looking :'(

Do Nails Breathe?

Do Nails Actually Breathe?

Have you guys heard this question? Or does any of you here still think that nails can breathe?

Below is a statement which I read few months ago, which I forgot the source of. That is just what I remember, but the statement was pretty much like that.

You should actually take nail polish breaks during each week of application. Yellow stain on your nails happen because you don't let your nails breathe enough.

And I'm here to clarify that

NO

Nails don't breathe.

Your nails are made up of 100 layers of flattened, dead keratin cells. Yep, it's dead. Dead is dead.

Staining is just a result of repeated wear of nail polish, which is not bad at all, because it doesn't affect your health at all.

In fact, nail polish is actually good, because it traps the oil into your nail, which may be stripped off during contact with water.

For the complete article, click on this link. All of my knowledge of nail care comes from this blog, which is really helpful. They clarify nail myths and wrong theories about nails.

I hope I helped some of you guys here which are still wondering about this topic. Hope that helped.

See ya until next nail posts!

My All-Time Favourite Hobby

Hi guys! In this post, I'm going to share with you guys my all-time favourite hobby that has been my stress reliever.

That is NAIL ART.

Yep, I just had to caps lock that word, cause literally, when it comes to the word nail art, I get so enthusiastic.

In May 2015, I watched so many talented nail artists and one of them, I saw, became a certified nail artist from being a nail blogger. That inspired me to actually deepen my knowledge in this field and start doing nail art to other people.

And of course, some amount of money is charged per set of fingernails and/or toenails.

I told my mom about this and of course, when it comes to earning money by your own, whose parents wouldn't agree? She said that it would be nice. I was so hyped and I searched nail art tools that I would need from online shops on Instagram.

I bought the nail art tools with my own money. Fortunately my parents helped a little bit on the storage tools.

Before having this idea, I have always watched cutepolish on youtube. I have always had the passion when it comes to nail art and beauty-related things.

I started practicing on my practice wheels. Here are some of my results.

And of course, almost all of these designs were from those Instagram nail accounts which uploads really beautiful nail art designs. However, there are some designs that I made by myself.

With that, I started promoting myself to my friends. At that time, it was holidays and there were quite a few friends who regularly did their nails with me. I only charged them IDR 20.000 (about USD 1.50). That was actually a really good price because I think my results aren't that bad.

And here are some of my results which I did on my friends.

There are some photos in which were my own hand (yes I'm left-handed).

I am still learning autodidact and I have fun while doing this. I make mistakes and fix them by myself, or my friends will also give my feedbacks. They're really supportive and kind.

From now on I hope I can share with you guys my journey to become better at nail art.

And... as cliche as it sounds, practice makes perfect!
